Mango Iced Tea (Print Version)

Refreshing fruity iced tea with ripe mango puree and black tea, naturally sweetened with honey.

# What You'll Need:

→ Tea

01 - 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea
02 - 2 cups boiling water

→ Mango Puree

03 - 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced, or 1 cup frozen mango cubes
04 - 2 cups water

→ Sweetener and Serving

05 - 2 tablespoons honey or to taste
06 - Ice cubes as needed
07 - Fresh mango slices for garnish, optional

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Place tea bags in a large pitcher and pour 2 cups of boiling water over them. Allow to steep for 10 minutes, then remove the tea bags.
02 - In a saucepan, combine diced mango and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, mashing the mango to create a smooth puree.
03 - Strain the mango mixture through a fine mesh sieve directly into the pitcher with the brewed tea.
04 - Stir in honey until completely dissolved.
05 - Allow the tea mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
06 - Pour over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mango slices if desired.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It tastes like an expensive café drink but takes barely any hands-on time.
  • The natural sweetness of mango means you control exactly how much sugar goes into your glass.
  • You can make a big pitcher and forget about it in the fridge until guests arrive.
02 -
  • Underripe mangoes will make the drink taste sour and thin, so if your mango smells like nothing and feels hard, wait a day or just use frozen ones, which are always ripe when frozen.
  • Straining through a sieve is non-negotiable if you want that smooth, elegant texture instead of a grainy drink that feels like you forgot a step.
03 -
  • Make a double batch on Sunday and you'll have cold tea waiting all week when the heat hits hardest.
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer before serving if you want them to stay cold longer, and use filtered water because tap water flavors you can't taste hot become obvious when everything is chilled.
