# Steps to Follow:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9x13 inch rectangular cake pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream softened butter with granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the batter, starting and ending with flour mixture; mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the surface, and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt; beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Level the cooled cake. Cut into a video game controller shape using a template or freehand.
- Cover the shaped cake with a thin layer of buttercream to seal crumbs and chill for 30 minutes.
- Tint portions of fondant using gel colors. Roll out fondant on cornstarch-dusted surface. Cover cake with gray fondant and decorate with colored pieces to mimic buttons and pixels.
- Place finished cake on a serving platter to resemble a pixelated controller.
